A Journey into the depth of the ground
Immersive sound theatre / Experimental audio scenography

In UNTER UNS, we listen to the ground beneath us. The ground is everything. Everything comes from it, everything meets and lives upon it, and ultimately, everything returns to it.

UNTER UNS is a unique, immersive theatrical experience that draws the audience into an intimate and unpredictable world. A world that captivates through its immediacy and emotional depth, rewarding its visitors with a singular sensory experience. Through deep listening, the audience explores the hidden worlds of the ground — a living treasure — within an experimental theatrical setting. The scenography consists of an inflatable structure that envelops the entire performance space, making the outside world disappear. Inside, visitors encounter a vast, sonorous, and vibrating ground. Like a giant musical instrument, it invites them to lie down and listen. Those who do so immerse themselves in a dynamic space of resonance, filled with sounds and resonances — freely associated with earth, soil, or underground worlds: with the rumbling depths and hidden treasures of the earth, where countless living creatures leave their traces every day, as well as with the vibrant surface where we meet and encounter each other in daily life.

UNTER UNS explores questions of coexistence: What is the foundation of our being together — and how stable is it, really? It is about the ground we stand on — both literally and metaphorically. And isn’t there always this underlying question: Part of what do we see ourselves as? What does we mean? How far can or should this ground still erode — socially, ecologically, existentially? And if the ground beneath us starts to crumble — when do we stand up and take action? The we itself is up for debate: Is it my peer group, is it us as humans, or is it something larger — something that extends beyond the human and embraces everything that makes up our world?

Questions of coexistence and interconnectedness run through Dimitri de Perrot’s work. With each new creation, these themes are expanded, deepened, and explored from new perspectives. “Between the individual and the collective, Dimitri de Perrot questions with great agility the boundaries between individuals. He succeeds in the feat of creating a collective, even though he mobilises our most personal interpretations.” (La Terrasse)

In UNTER UNS, we listen to a world in which human beings are not at the centre. Rather, they are part of a larger whole.

*UNTER UNS: German for below us, but also a common understanding: between us, among us.
