Hitsudankai—From now/here, Silence is a participatory performance/workshop under a particular situation. The participants can communicate by only writing on a paper in absolute silence.
Here, writing communication is not an aid to normal conversation, but a new style of dialogue. Under this particular environment of complete silence, they confirm each other’s existence through their own bodies, words, pictures and drawings on the paper.
Only one person can write on paper at a time. They will be watching/listening/waiting for the others’ narratives, and the quiet time accumulates in the space. Despite the simple format, sometimes (almost every time) dramatic moments happen.
