Founded in 2006 with the aim of strengthening the national coordination of the promotion of dance as an artistic discipline, Reso is the umbrella organisation of the close to 100 Swiss theatres and festivals producing and presenting contemporary dance. Since its creation, Reso has either taken over existing local and regional initiatives in dance, but also developed its own promotional tools, from co-production grants to support venues in presenting Swiss artists while funding their work, to coordinating the national Dance Fest, which unfolds over a week in over thirty Swiss cities.
Furthermore, Reso has been organising the Internationally acclaimed Swiss Dance Days on behalf of Pro Helvetia and the main cities of Switzerland. The Swiss Dance Days are a biennial platform showcasing the best of the Swiss contemporary dance to an international professional audience, thus supporting the distribution of the national artists within the country and abroad.
